Financial support for homeowners
If you’re a Shared Ownership leaseholder and struggling financially – due to job loss, low income, or rising costs – there may be help available. Some benefits are not means tested e.g. PIP an additional income to help with the cost of being disabled.
You may be eligible for:
- Universal Credit (including housing and service charge support).
- Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) – a repayable loan for mortgage interest.
- Housing Benefit – if not eligible for Universal Credit.
- Council Tax Reduction – up to 100% off your bill.
- Newlon’s Hardship Fund – help with rent arrears, food, utilities, and essentials.
- Discretionary Housing Payments – extra help with rent.
- Help with NHS Costs – free prescriptions, dental care, eye tests, and travel.
- Other Benefits – including Child Benefit, Carer’s Allowance, disability benefits such as PIP, and more.
