Help Yourself and Others focuses on things that enable good wellbeing, alongside free wellbeing training opportunities. For those who need it, you’re only one click away from more direct support, such as NHS talking therapies or urgent helplines.

Get healthy in parks

Tower Hamlets has over 120 parks and green spaces for everyone to enjoy. From small pocket parks to garden squares and parks of national repute, they are loved by our residents.

13 of Tower Hamlets parks hold Green Flag Awards and hold 9 gold awards from London in Bloom.

Parks are great places to unwind. Sitting and relaxing in a pleasant green environment and spending a moment in touch with nature helps to reduce stress levels and improves your well-being.

If you want to improve your health and fitness but don’t know how to get started, the Tower Hamlets Healthy Lifestyles team can offer advice and information on a range of activities.

Mile End parkrun: A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. This is a free event every Saturday. Advance registration is required.

There are outdoor gyms in parks across the borough. The gyms have a variety of equipment for strength workouts, cardio, toning, calisthenics.

Our aim is to help people in our local communities to have better mental health and wellbeing and to live the best lives possible. We do this by providing a range of services to meet local needs, including:

Recovery wellbeing groups and activities

These groups and activities offer you the chance to meet people in a safe, relaxed environment to share experiences, learn, make new friends, have fun and take some time out from everyday worry. You can also learn mental health skills to help you on your recovery journey.

You’ll be around people who also have experience of mental health challenges and can understand what you’re going through. Most of our groups are led by people who have used our services and want to give something back.

Most groups take place at the Open House building near Devon’s Road, in Tower Hamlets. To check the details of a specific group, you can call on 020 7510 1081.
