Islington Council’s £1 million Hardship Fund for residents is open for applications

4th Apr 2023

The Islington Hardship Fund is a short-term fund for people in work who rent their home and do not get Housing Benefit or Universal Credit.

The Fund is designed to help two specific groups:

  • Those working households with an income that only just lifts them out of most benefit entitlement.
  • The 1,300 households receiving certain benefits that were not eligible for any previous cost of living support payments.

If your application is successful, you will receive a one-off grant of £250.

Please see the Hardship Fund webpage which provides more information including how to apply and assistance available.

Funding for this scheme is limited, so there will be only one award per household. Awards will go to those who meet the eligibility criteria on a first come, first served basis.

People are encouraged to apply early – the closing date is 30th April 2023.
