Assistant Director of Income and Service Charges

Description

Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London.

Help us transform essential services and create a clearer, fairer experience for our residents.

This is an exciting time to join Newlon. We are reimagining our future through a new vision shaped in consultation with residents, staff and stakeholders and we are looking for an ambitious, resident-focused leader to help turn that vision into reality.

Over the past four years, we have been on a sustained journey to improve performance and resident satisfaction. We have made important progress and are ambitious about building on it embedding stronger services, listening and responding to residents and delivering consistently better outcomes.

As our new Assistant Director of Income and Service Charges, you will lead a broad and influential portfolio spanning income collection, rent accounting, service charges and financial inclusion. You will protect vital organisational income while ensuring our services are fair, accessible and responsive to the needs of tenants, shared owners and leaseholders.

A central priority will be the transformation of our service charge service. You will have the opportunity to redesign the resident experience from end to end creating a more transparent, timely and resident-friendly process, with clearer information, stronger accountability and greater confidence in how charges are calculated, explained and managed.

What you will bring

  • Substantial senior leadership experience in social housing, with a strong track record across income and service charges.
  • The vision and practical delivery skills to lead complex service transformation and achieve measurable improvements.
  • Strong financial, analytical and governance capability, with the confidence to provide assurance at executive and Board level.
  • A collaborative leadership style and a genuine commitment to listening to residents, supporting colleagues and building high-performing teams.
  • The ability to make complex financial information clear, accessible and meaningful.

Why join Newlon?

You will join at a pivotal moment, with the mandate to shape services rather than simply maintain them. Working with talented colleagues and informed by resident insight, you will influence Newlon’s future direction, strengthen financial resilience and deliver changes that residents can see and feel.

If you are an inspiring leader who combines commercial grip with empathy, clarity and a passion for better resident outcomes, we would love to hear from you.

In return, you can expect 27 days holiday, a non-contributory pension, excellent benefits and a flexi scheme.  You’ll also be working out of purpose-built offices that form part of the award-winning Hale Village regeneration project, and are situated just two minutes’ walk from the major transport interchange at Tottenham Hale.
