Acorn House, Camden – official opening

7th Apr 2026

We were delighted to celebrate the official opening of Acorn House on Friday 20th March, marking a major milestone for affordable housing provided by Newlon in the heart of Camden.

A huge thank you to Camden councillors Jonathan Simpson MBE, Liam Martin-Lane and Lotis Bautista, who joined us for the occasion, alongside Faaiza Lalji, Director of Planning and Development at Precis Advisory. We were also pleased to welcome Newlon’s Chief Executive, Ruth Davison, along with other Newlon colleagues, and representatives from our consultants, contractors and development partners.

Originally a 1960s office building that once housed the National Union of Journalists, Acorn House has been carefully transformed into a high-quality residential development within the sought-after Bloomsbury Conservation Area. The completed scheme now provides 33 affordable homes -19 for Affordable Rent and 14 for Intermediate Rent – just minutes from King’s Cross.

Residents will benefit from thoughtfully designed communal spaces, including a dedicated play area and a shared balcony with stunning views across the London skyline – a rare and special feature in such a central location.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see new, truly affordable homes delivered in this part of Camden. We look forward to welcoming the new residents very soon and to see Acorn House come to life.
