Initial Demolition Notice for the Barnsbury Estate Transformation (BEST)

On the 29th November 2022 Islington’s Planning Committee gave approval for our plans for the transformation of the new Barnsbury Estate, the part of the Estate which was constructed between the 1950s -1970s.

The transformation involves the complete rebuilding of this part of the estate to provide modern, energy efficient housing, providing a once in a generation opportunity to deal with overcrowding on the Estate. The plans will also deliver enhanced community facilities and increased green space on the Estate as well as 135 additional homes for social rent providing much needed new affordable housing for the borough. 

In order for the rebuilding of this part of the estate to go ahead, we will first need to demolish some of the existing apartment blocks. Please find the Initial Demolition Notice for this part of the Barnsbury Estate Transformation (BEST) which came into force on the 13th June 2023.
