Rivers Apartments fire safety – press statement

22nd Jun 2017

Following confirmation that Rivers Apartments, our 22 storey tower situated in Tottenham and completed in the spring of 2015, is clad with Reynobond PE, the London Fire Brigade today carried out an extensive safety audit at our request.

The Fire Brigade made some straightforward recommendations for the building, which we have already started work on, and requested some additional technical clarifications. Subject to meeting these recommendations, the Fire Brigade confirmed that they were satisfied that Rivers Apartments is considered a low fire risk building.

Rivers Apartments is a modern building with many active fire safety systems including a sprinkler system, wet riser, a firefighter’s lift and smoke evacuation valves.

With regard to the status of the cladding at the end of last week we asked the leading independent experts the Building Research Establishment (BRE) to review its design and specification and we are waiting for their technical recommendations. This will determine whether or not the cladding should be removed and replaced, and if so what the appropriate replacement should be.

If we receive further instructions from the Fire Brigade or any other statutory authority we will of course comply with them.

We continue to meet with and update our residents on the situation.
