Anti-Social Behaviour

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) is 'behaviour by someone that is likely to cause alarm, distress or harassment to members of the public, not of the same household'. Examples of ASB include noise nuisance, harassment and vandalism.

You can report ASB to us in a number of ways:

  • email - housingservices@newlon.org.uk.
  • write to us - Housing Services, Newlon Housing Trust, Newlon House, 4 Daneland Walk, Hale Village, London, N17 9FE.
  • visit us - in person at the same address. View the contact us page for details of how to get to us.
  • call - your Housing Officer on 020 7613 8080.

What to do after the office is closed

If you would like to report ASB as and when it happens and our offices are closed, you can call our brand new out of hours ASB Hotline on 0800 075 6699.

This service is open to all of our residents whenever our offices are closed. When you call you will be able to speak to an experienced member of the ASB Respect Line Team who can give you the appropriate advice for the problems you are experiencing. The team will also be on hand to contact the Police or Environmental Health on your behalf. We will then be notified of your phone call by the team so that we are completely up to date on the issues you have reported.

Please note, if you are experiencing a crime and it is an emergency please call 999.

Our approach to ASB

Newlon supports the 'Respect Agenda' and recognises the importance of tackling (ASB) and the affect it has on residents, estates and communities.

We aim to take a balanced but firm approach between preventative, supportive and enforcement methods and where we can we will involve other agencies to help tackle the problems you are having.

For our latest advice on dealing with ASB, please download our leaflet on Anti-Social Behaviour. This leaflet includes information on avoiding ASB and who to contact if you need to report an incident, including information about support services for each of the boroughs where we have residents.

What you can do

In many cases it is useful to keep a record of ASB that you are experiencing as and when it occurs in the form of a diary sheet. You can download some examples here so when you report ASB you can show us what has been going on. These diary sheets are Word Documents so that you can edit them on the computer if you prefer.

Types of ASB

ASB focus groups

In March 2011 we conducted two Anti-Social Behaviour Focus Groups where residents were invited to talk about their experiences of our Anti-Social Behaviour service.

The object of the Focus Groups was to help us find out what mistakes are being made and to identify areas that could be made better to continually improve our service. The Focus Groups also helped us understand where we are performing well. We were able to gain a very helpful insight into the experiences and needs of residents who have been involved in our Anti-Social Behaviour service.

We have taken what we have learnt and channelled it into a set of recommendations for our Senior Management to consider implementing in 2011 and 2012 to improve our service to you. Examples include increasing our level of contact with victims of Anti-Social Behaviour, or the purchase of covert CCTV and noise monitoring equipment.
