Lough Road West

The Lough Road West Development was completed in Autumn 2007, and is made up of several buildings near Caledonian Road. Altogether there are 249 affordable homes with specialised provision for disabled residents at ground level. 180 of the homes are rented to people referred to Newlon by Islington Council, and the remaining 69 will be sold on a shared ownership basis.
The focal point of the Lough Road West development is a green, family-friendly communal space incorporating dedicated areas for ball games and for younger children to play.
Residents from the local community were very much involved with the design of this area. Working closely with the architects – B Consultants – they even tested out their idea in 3D computer animation. The aim was to encourage more pedestrian and less vehicle traffic.
