Celebrating 35 years of providing homes & servicesNewlon Housing Trust

9-17 Hornsey Street

9-17 Hornsey Street is one of the biggest developments of affordable homes constructed as part of the Arsenal Regeneration Project. Hornsey Street represents the 1000th affordable home built by Newlon as part of the scheme, and as such is a landmark building.

Hornsey Street 1-4 provides 164 affordable homes, with a mix of 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom apartments. There are 44 affordable rented homes for local people, which cost £115 a week for four bedrooms.

There are 64 properties for Key Workers to rent at below market rates. These cost £705/month for 1 bedroom, and £797/month for two bedrooms. This compared to average rental costs in Islington of £910/month for a one bedroom property on the private market.

64 apartments are Shared Ownership, designed to help local people get on the property ladder. A 40% share of a 1 bedroom apartment costs £76,000, which means couples on a combined income of just £30,000 are able to afford them. The average cost of a flat in Islington is £340,000 according to land registry figures.
