Newlon at Arsenal
At Newlon we are proud and excited to have been involved in the “Arsenal on the Move” regeneration project.
As the lead housing association partner in one of the UK’s largest and most high profile regeneration projects we have built more than 1,000 affordable homes in an area stretching from Highbury in the east to Caledonian Road
in the west.
Hornsey Street 5-7, which provides homes for 300 Key Workers was the first part of the whole project to be completed with the first residents moving in during the autumn of 2005. 2006 saw the completion of new homes in Eden Grove and the Ashburton Triangle, which stands next to the new stadium and forms the centrepiece of our affordable housing developments. Uniquely the Triangle has been designed by HOK Sport the same Architects as the stadium.
There are still a number of new affordable homes to be built, including 55 apartments as part of the redevelopment of the old Highbury Stadium site, which should be completed in 2008. A further 320 affordable homes are planned on Queensland Road, which is still in the planning stage.
This landmark regeneration scheme has completely transformed the area around the spectacular Emirates stadium – making use of previously disused land and providing many new community facilities.
The project has also been committed throughout its course to providing new and sustainable opportunities for local people through the work of the Arsenal Regeneration Team - a unique partnership between Newlon, Arsenal FC and the London Borough of Islington.
