Tottenham Town Hall

We are really proud to be contributing to the ongoing regeneration of the Tottenham Green area by refurbishing the 104 year old, Tottenham Town Hall. This beautiful Edwardian building, with its sweeping central staircase and majestic Moselle Room, is now in need of renovation and modernisation to give it a new lease of life. In partnership with Haringey Council, bptw architects and United House, we are now onsite at the Town Hall where a year's renovation work will lovingly transform this grade II listed building for community use.

Behing the Town Hall, at the derelict Clyde Road depot site, we are building 109 new affordable homes. Adjacent to the rear of the Town Hall is the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Tottenham's very own world class venue for the performing and visual arts. We will be creating a new courtyard that will join the Town Hall directly to the arts centre. This is a small part of the wider plans to regenerate Tottenham Green and to create a new cultural quarter, being developed in partnership with the arts centre, Marcus Garvey Library, the College of North East London (CONEL) and Haringey Council.

Works to be completed at Tottenham Town Hall:

In the Town Hall: The Moselle Room will be retained for public use with the addition of proper lift access. The remainder of the Town Hall building will be converted into small Business Units.

To the rear of the Town Hall: A courtyard space will be created to provide access to the adjoining Bernie Grant Arts Centre.

On the old Depot site: 109 new homes are planned - 60% of these will be affordable housing stock managed by Newlon Housing Trust. The workshop units currently standing on the south edge of the depot site will be renovated and retained.

Taking on board your views

Proposals were submitted for planning approval in mid-October 2008. The views of local residents, community groups and businesses are vital to making the regeneration of this historic site a success - so thanks to everyone who came along and gave us their opinions at the two public consultation days held before the planning application was submitted. Your feedback was taken into consideration and the total number of new homes to be built has been reduced to reflect local views on the density of housing proposed for the site.

Proud to be working in Tottenham

Vice Chair of the Newlon Board, Rachel Beagles said: "We are really proud to be working on such an historical site, to retain the hall and to regenerate an area that will provide affordable homes and facilities to the people of Haringey."
