Tottenham Town Hall
We are really proud to be contributing to the ongoing regeneration of the Tottenham Green area by completing the refurbishment of the Edwardian Tottenham Town Hall. This beautiful Grade II listed building, with its sweeping central staircase and majestic Moselle Room, has been renovated and modernised by us in partnership with Haringey Council, bptw architects and United House. Work to lovingly transform the Hall is now complete and ready for use by the community and local businesses.
Work has now started on our 109 new affordable homes being built behind the Town Hall on the old Clyde Road depot site.
Works at Tottenham Town Hall:
In the Town Hall: Externally, refurbishment has included the restoration and cleaning of all brickwork and stonemasonry and important repair work to the roof and clock tower. Internally, the entrance and surrounding rooms at the front of the building have been transformed, including the impressive red-carpeted staircase. The marble and stonemasonry have been painstakingly cleaned and repaired, including the delicate Italian Terrazzo mosaic flooring tiling. The Moselle Room has also been restored to bring the Moorish style back to life. Full lift access has also been completed and there is now a wheelchair ramp into the building.

On the old depot site: 109 new affordable homes are planned, which will be managed by us and the workshop units currently standing on the south edge of the depot site will be renovated and retained.

Taking on board your views
Proposals were submitted for planning approval in mid-October 2008. The views of local residents, community groups and businesses are vital to making the regeneration of this historic site a success - so thanks to everyone who came along and gave us their opinions at the two public consultation days held before the planning application was submitted. Your feedback was taken into consideration and the total number of new homes to be built has been reduced to reflect local views on the density of housing proposed for the site.
Proud to be working in Tottenham
Vice Chair of the Newlon Board, Rachel Beagles said: "We are really proud to be working on such an historical site, to retain the hall and to regenerate an area that will provide affordable homes and facilities to the people of Haringey."
