Chair of Board, Lead Member for Business Planning, Governance, Reputation and Identity

George’s history with Newlon stretches back to 1997 when he first joined the board. Taking a particular interest in regeneration issues he became chair of the Resources Committee in 1998. The following year he was made Vice Chair of Newlon and was lead board member for Human Resources and treasury issues. He became chair in 2004.

As well as being involved with Newlon George is also secretary of a large pension scheme and an independent trustee of a further three schemes. He is also Chair of a music distribution company and an adviser to the Council for Industry and Higher Education.

On a voluntary basis George is a board member of the Kendal Brewery Arts Centre and Kendal College and a shadow board member of Preston Community Gateway Housing Association.
