Desmond Gray

Lead Member for Continuous Improvement & Performance Management, Chair of Audit Committee

Desmond has worked with Newlon since 1980 first as deputy chair. In 1984 he became founder chair of Access Homes. He rejoined the Newlon board in 2005.

As an accountant Desmond worked as an auditor finance director and then as senior financial consultant to HACAS, now part of the Tribal Group. Keen to raise the profile of housing associations Desmond has been involved with the Housing Federation, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Public finance and Accountancy.

Desmond is also the author of a number of housing publications. As Chair of the Audit committee, Desmond is the point of contact for staff wishing to raise concerns about Newlon's senior officers under the Reporting Concerns at Work Policy.
